{"id":4174,"date":"2018-12-11T11:07:22","date_gmt":"2018-12-11T11:07:22","guid":{"rendered":"https:\/\/clydesdalehockey.org.uk\/staging\/?p=4174"},"modified":"2019-01-11T18:57:29","modified_gmt":"2019-01-11T18:57:29","slug":"indoor-fully-underway-outdoor-finished-for-first-half-weekend-review-8th-9th-december","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/clydesdalehockey.org.uk\/staging\/indoor-fully-underway-outdoor-finished-for-first-half-weekend-review-8th-9th-december\/","title":{"rendered":"Indoor fully underway, outdoor finished for first half &#8211; Weekend Review &#8211; 8th\/9th December"},"content":{"rendered":"<p><strong>L1s 4-4 Hillhead 1s; L1s 10-0 CALA Edinburgh 1s; L1s 3-6 Dundee Wanderers 1s<\/strong><\/p>\n<p><strong>Clydesdale Western 1s began the defence of the Women&#8217;s National Indoor Division One title by picking up four points in their opening fixtures at Bell&#8217;s Sports Centre, Perth.<\/strong><\/p>\n<p>A long day was in store for the L1s, who were on the first, the middle and the final games of day at Bell&#8217;s on Sunday.&nbsp; Game 1 against Hillhead 1s finished 4-4, thanks to a late equaliser from their west end opponents.&nbsp; Then in their second match, the girls got into their stride by hitting ten past CALA Edinburgh 1s without conceding.<\/p>\n<p>The final game of the day was always going to be the toughest as they played last season&#8217;s finalists in Dundee Wanderers 1s.&nbsp; Wanderers bounced back from going a goal down early to lead 6-2 at half time.&nbsp; The L1s did pull a goal back towards the end of the second period, but the 6-3 scoreline was how it would remain till the final whistle.<\/p>\n<p><strong>M1s 9-2 Kelburne 1s; M1s 3-8 Inverleith 1s<\/strong><\/p>\n<p><strong>Clydesdale Men&#8217;s 1s got their season off to a decent start in Men&#8217;s National Indoor Division One at Bell&#8217;s Sports Centre in Perth on Saturday.<\/strong><\/p>\n<p>The M1s were initially expected to be in for a difficult start having been drawn to play last season&#8217;s Play-Off Finalists Kelburne and Inverleith on the opening weekend of indoor.<\/p>\n<p>However, the &#8216;Dale got off to a cracking start by beating Kelburne 9-2 in their morning match.&nbsp; Their second and final game proved to be a bit tougher, when they were beaten 8-3 by champions, and most likely league favourites, Inverleith in the afternoon passback.<\/p>\n<p><strong>L2s 4-3 Granite City Wanderers 1s; L1s 7-0 Kelburne 1s<\/strong><\/p>\n<p><strong>Clydesdale Western 2s got their indoor season off to a flyer by winning both games in their opening fixtures in Women&#8217;s National Indoor Division Two at Dundee International Sports Centre.<\/strong><\/p>\n<p>The L2s narrowly beat northern side Granite City Wanderers 4-3 in their morning game.&nbsp; Then in game two, the L2s comfortably dispatched Kelburne 1s 7-0.<\/p>\n<p><strong>Saturday &#8211; L4s 1-1 Ardrossan 1s (C Stirling); L5s 3-2 Kelburne 5s (E Neary, L Halley, C Clark); L6s 1-8 Glasgow University 4s (M Reilly)<\/strong><\/p>\n<p><strong>Sunday &#8211; L4s 3-2 Loch Lomond 1s (G Schmolke, C MacDonald, S Watkiss) &#8211; Women&#8217;s West District Cup<\/strong><\/p>\n<p>Clydesdale Western&#8217;s West District sides completed the first half to their seasons over the weekend, featuring another huge three points.&nbsp; That was of the L5s, who picked up their fifth league win in their last seven league outings following their 3-2 win at home to Kelburne 3s.&nbsp; Goals from Emma Neary, Lauren Halley and Catherine Clark has now sent Trish Lonergan&#8217;s side up to fifth in Women&#8217;s West District Division Two, three points behind second placed, Uddingston 2s.&nbsp; The L4s missed out on the chance to go third in Women&#8217;s West District Division One after drawing 1-1 against Ardrossan 1s &#8211; Cath Stirling scored for the L4s in Saltcoats.&nbsp; The L6s remain bottom of Women&#8217;s West District Division Three after they suffered a heavy 8-1 defeat to second placed Glasgow University 4s, despite Monica Reilly scoring her first ever senior goal.<\/p>\n<p>On Sunday, the L4s booked a place into the Quarter Finals of the Women&#8217;s West District Cup after seeing off a stirring comeback from Loch Lomond 1s.&nbsp; The L4s were 2-0 up at home, but the visitors clawed their way back into the game with two goals.&nbsp; &#8216;Dale Western 4s had time to conjure up a third and winning goal to qualify for the next round of the cup.&nbsp; Goals for the L4s came from Georgia Schmolke, Claire MacDonald and Sophie Watkiss<\/p>\n<p>Photo credit: Duncolm Sports Photography<\/p>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"<p>L1s 4-4 Hillhead 1s; L1s 10-0 CALA Edinburgh 1s; L1s 3-6 Dundee Wanderers 1s Clydesdale Western 1s began the defence of the Women&#8217;s National Indoor Division One title by picking up four points in their opening fixtures at Bell&#8217;s Sports Centre, Perth.
