{"id":5688,"date":"2019-11-28T15:08:38","date_gmt":"2019-11-28T15:08:38","guid":{"rendered":"https:\/\/clydesdalehockey.org.uk\/staging\/?p=5688"},"modified":"2020-01-16T23:20:11","modified_gmt":"2020-01-16T23:20:11","slug":"player-profiles-alex-ingram","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/clydesdalehockey.org.uk\/staging\/player-profiles-alex-ingram\/","title":{"rendered":"Player Profiles &#8211; Alex Ingram"},"content":{"rendered":"\n<p><strong>It&#8217;s been a while, but &#8216;Player Profiles&#8217; is back!<\/strong><\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>Almost five months since we reported on our current Clydesdale &amp; Clydesdale Western members, and a lot has gone on since then &#8211; including Alex Ingram, who joined in 2017, becoming Men&#8217;s 2nd XI captain.&nbsp; Talking about life at Titwood, there was no better time to meet with Ally Walker who reports:<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p><em>Alex Ingram is made of stern stuff!<\/em><\/p>\n\n\n\n<p><em>After a tough Tuesday night training session in torrential rain he came straight off the pitch, dripped a bit and sat down to have a chat.&nbsp; Now in his third year with Clydesdale, Alex is captaining the M2s and is now halfway through the outdoor season.<\/em><\/p>\n\n\n\n<figure class=\"wp-block-gallery columns-1 is-cropped wp-block-gallery-1 is-layout-flex wp-block-gallery-is-layout-flex\"><ul class=\"blocks-gallery-grid\"><li class=\"blocks-gallery-item\"><figure><img fetchpriority=\"high\" decoding=\"async\" width=\"1001\" height=\"1024\" src=\"https:\/\/clydesdalehockey.org.uk\/staging\/wp-content\/uploads\/2019\/11\/2-1-e1574854191877-1001x1024.png\" alt=\"\" data-id=\"5692\" data-link=\"https:\/\/clydesdalehockey.org.uk\/staging\/?attachment_id=5692\" class=\"wp-image-5692\" srcset=\"https:\/\/clydesdalehockey.org.uk\/staging\/wp-content\/uploads\/2019\/11\/2-1-e1574854191877-1001x1024.png 1001w, https:\/\/clydesdalehockey.org.uk\/staging\/wp-content\/uploads\/2019\/11\/2-1-e1574854191877-293x300.png 293w, https:\/\/clydesdalehockey.org.uk\/staging\/wp-content\/uploads\/2019\/11\/2-1-e1574854191877-768x786.png 768w\" sizes=\"(max-width: 1001px) 100vw, 1001px\" \/><figcaption class=\"blocks-gallery-item__caption\">A bit soaked?!\u00a0No problem for Alex Ingram, who gave up time to chat with Ally about life as a Clydesdale member.<\/figcaption><\/figure><\/li><\/ul><\/figure>\n\n\n\n<p><em>Alex began with, \u201cWe\u2019re going to push on this year &#8211; last year was pretty tough and we had to fight hard. But we\u2019ve got some experienced players back after injury and work commitments and that\u2019s going to strengthen the team considerably. It was good to get a comfortable win over Kelburne to get the league started, and have collected a few more wins along the way!\u201d&nbsp;&nbsp; Since that opening day 7-2 win against Kelburne back in September, the Men&#8217;s 2s are fifth in Men&#8217;s Regional Division One, a<\/em><font style=\"background-color: rgb(255, 255, 255);\"><em>n<\/em><\/font><em>d are certainly holding their own as they look to keep up at the top end of the table.&nbsp; Very much an improvement from last season&#8217;s second bottom finish.<\/em><\/p>\n\n\n\n<p><em>28 year old Alex says he\u2019s a bit of hockey nomad.&nbsp; Originally from Bristol, he first played played hockey at school in Newcastle from the age of 13.&nbsp; Then, with some help from a local hockey development coach, he and some of his school teammates launched a brand new club team, the Newcastle Mens\u2019 Club, which continues to thrive in the north east.&nbsp; After school, Alex moved north to study at Strathclyde University, where he played for four years, winning the  BUCS Cup in his final year.&nbsp; He then worked away for two years before Glasgow drew him back again and he found his hockey home at Clydesdale.<\/em><\/p>\n\n\n\n<p><em>Alex believes one of &#8216;Dale\u2019s real strengths is its friendliness.&nbsp; \u201cThere aren\u2019t many clubs where you can turn up from a different part of the country and instantly find a friend group.&nbsp; And I also really like the way that the mens\u2019 and womens\u2019 teams are all part of the same social group and support each other\u2019s games.\u201d<\/em><\/p>\n\n\n\n<p><em>Alex claims he\u2019s been thrown in at the deep end as Men&#8217;s 2s captain and he certainly looks a little drowned&nbsp;from the main cover photo!&nbsp; And being someone who founded a hockey club as a teenager, it seems to me&nbsp;Alex will cope just fine.<\/em><\/p>\n\n\n\n<p><em>Photo credit: Ally Walker &amp; Rhona Weir<\/em><\/p>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"<p>It&#8217;s been a while, but &#8216;Player Profiles&#8217; is back!
